Enhancing climate-resilient livestock farming in Bayantumen soum, Dornod province

The Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN) is the operational arm of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Technology Mechanism and co-hosted by the United Nations Environment (UN Environment) in collaboration with the United Nations (UN) Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). UN-CTCN technical assistance project was carried out between November 2021 and May 2023. Field work was conducted in Bayantumen soum in April, June, September and October of 2022.

The project has conducted climate change vulnerability assessment on livestock farming in Bayantümen soum in a consultative way. Pastureland management measures were identified for climate-resilient livestock farming, business models were developed with community-scale meat-processing system for climate-resilient livestock farming and capacity of government bodies were enhanced through step-by-step consultation and capacity building activities, including local study tours and site visits.

The CCSD was subcontracted by Alinea International, the main implementer of the project, along with the North-East Asia Environmental and Agricultural Research Center (NEARC), the project initiator. A final workshop was held in Ulaanbaatar in December of 2022.
